Flatbread with Tomato and Mozzarella

July 1, 2013

I made this flatbread with whole wheat pizza dough I had lingering in the fridge for a couple of days. I was looking for pizza”esque” appetizer to serve with a glass of wine and thought the longer, rectangular shape would be good as it can be cut into strips that are easy to serve and eat. I made three flatbreads with three different toppings, each so good and deserving of its own post. Watch for upcoming... View Article

Pizza with Nectarines, Brie and Creme Fraiche

September 28, 2012

If you follow this blog you probably know that I make a lot of pizzas. I do have some favourites (Roasted Peppers with Goat Cheese is one) but I also have new surprises every week. I get my inspiration from what is in the market, in my fridge or on my kitchen counter.  This week I had a bunch of beautiful nectarines hanging around wondering what’s to become of them. Some made it into a... View Article

Pizza with Fresh Figs, Brie and Honey Drizzle

September 25, 2012

Pizza is one of the signature dishes in my kitchen. I love to make it, eat it and serve it. On weekends I always have pizza dough in the fridge, ready to be stretched, rolled and made into an impromptu snack or main course. Sometimes I buy fresh pizza dough from Mercato or Lina’s and keep it in the fridge for a quick pizza but mostly I like to make my own dough. I cook... View Article

Pizza with Figs and Gorgonzola

April 12, 2012

When figs are in season I use them in every way possible. Their sweetness pairs well with the salty and creamy gorgonzola so I combine them in this pizza recipe. The dough is the quick method that I use when I don’t have time to prepare the dough overnight. I will set out my overnight pizza dough in a separate recipe soon. Ingredients: 6-8 ripe figs 3-4 oz Gorgonzola 1 tablespoon honey   Quick Pizza... View Article

Pizza With Tomatoes, Basil and Goat Cheese

April 2, 2012

This is a quick pizza recipe to make from scratch that is easy to whip up when you have a couple of hours before you want to bake. You can make this dough by hand but it also works well in a food processor or a bread mixer. If you do not use the whole dough you can either freeze half of it or keep it in the fridge and bake it in the next... View Article

Piadinas (Italian wraps)

April 2, 2012

These are fun and so easy to prepare. The dough is unleavened (no yeast) and quite sturdy. I start it in the food processor and finish by hand. You need to roll the dough very thinly but don’t worry, it’s a very easy dough to work with, it doesn’t tear and doesn’t fall apart. I use the piadina rounds to wrap around different fillings. Any sandwich filling would do. If you make the piadinas ahead... View Article
